Fallen Soldier Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Buffalo Soldiers Northern Virginia
Introduction
The Fallen Soldiers Memorial Scholarship Fund was created on April 12, 2014, to honor deceased members and to continue their legacy of supporting education and scholarships.
Purpose and Awards
Each year the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Northern Virginia (BSMC of Northern VA) will grant three academic scholarships to qualified applicants. Awards are available to college‑bound high school seniors or to current students who are accepted and enrolled in an accredited four‑year college or university, a two‑year community college, or an accredited vocational school. Scholarships are granted annually as long as applicants meet the stated requirements.
Application period and complementary opportunities
The application window opens in January and closes in April of each calendar year. In addition to the BSMC of Northern VA awards, the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Clubs, Inc. (NABSTMC) also provides scholarship opportunities for eligible students under similar criteria.
Award amount and disbursement
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded based on a fully completed application packet, which must include documentation of financial need, evidence of qualifications, a personal essay, and any required supporting materials. Once the student’s enrollment is verified, the BSMC of Northern Virginia will mail the scholarship payment directly to the college, university, community college, or vocational institution on the student’s behalf.
Eligibility
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Acceptance to and enrollment at an accredited college or university, two‑year community college, or vocational institution.
