Betty Brown Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
Mrs. Betty Brown served as a devoted educator and school administrator for 35 years, including 30 years with the Tucson Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona. After her passing in September 2000, her sorority honored her memory by renaming its scholarship fund for her. Mrs. Brown is remembered for insisting on high academic standards, modeling a lifelong commitment to community service, and displaying a deep compassion for others.
In tribute to her work and values, the Tucson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are motivated learners, determined to succeed, and intent on completing a four-year college degree.
Award information
- Scholarship amounts vary and may be as much as $2,500.
- Applicants should read the entire application carefully, confirm they meet the listed criteria, and submit the completed application along with all required supporting documents to the Tucson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Eligibility
- Current high school senior (graduating)
- Female of African American or African heritage
- Resident of Southern Arizona (includes Pima, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties)
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Accepted to an accredited four-year college or university to begin study after high school graduation
