Angel Scholarship for Social Work, Peace, & Justice Studies

In 2012, an anonymous benefactor from the Catholic Community Foundation established the Angel Scholarship for Social Work, Peace, and Justice Studies. The donor's deep-seated commitment to aiding the less fortunate and marginalized inspired the creation of this scholarship. The aim is to motivate young individuals to dedicate their lives to the service of others through the field of social work.
Who Can Apply:
Applicants for the Angel Scholarship for Social Work, Peace, and Justice Studies must be full-time seniors enrolled in a Catholic high school within the Phoenix Diocese. They must be practicing Catholics who are registered and either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship is not awarded based on financial need or high school GPA. It's important to note that this scholarship does not support degrees in criminal justice, philosophy, psychology, nursing, or education/teaching.
Scholarship Details:
- The scholarship recipient will be granted a one-time $5,000 award to be used for first-year tuition at a four-year college or university in Arizona.
- The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the chosen college/university.
- This scholarship does not support studies in criminal justice, philosophy, psychology, nursing, or education/teaching.
Assessment Criteria:
- Two online recommendations are required.
- Applicants must submit an essay on a topic provided in the application.
Key Dates:
- Toolkit becomes available on July 1
- Application process begins on December 1
- Deadline for application submission is January 31
- Only one scholarship is awarded annually.
