Mission and Objectives

• Offer quality education services to the Hopi community by expanding access to a broad spectrum of learning opportunities.
• Increase the number of Hopi professionals with degrees who are job‑ready.
• Provide retention supports that help students finish their chosen programs.

Funding Sources

• BIA Higher Education Grant (638 Funding)
• Hopi Education Endowment Fund (HEEF)

Awards and Scholarships (brief descriptions)

• BIA Higher Education Grant / Hopi Education Award — Available to eligible Hopi students pursuing post‑secondary and professional degrees.
• Diane Humetewa Scholarship — Merit‑based award for students in fields related to social justice; awarded competitively.
• Peabody Navajo Generating Station Scholarship — Competitive merit award recognizing high academic achievement.
• Hopi Academic Achievement Award — Merit award for qualifying graduating high school seniors.
• Education Enrichment Award — Funds intended to support activities that advance educational or career goals. (Application deadline: at least 30 days before the date of the activity.)
• Tuition and Books Award — Assistance for part‑time students or those not eligible for other awards.
• Standardized Testing Fee Award — Covers required fees for entrance exams or career certification tests.

Letters of Recommendation — Important note Applicants must submit three (3) letters of recommendation. At minimum:

• Post‑secondary applicants should include a letter from a college academic advisor.
• High school applicants should include a letter from a high school academic counselor.
• One of the letters must be a personal reference. The personal reference cannot be an immediate relative, HTGSP staff, current HTGSP board member, or staff from funding agencies (e.g., HEEF).

Eligibility Requirements

• Enrolled member of The Hopi Tribe.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Accepted to a regionally accredited college or university.
• Completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and applied for all available federal, state, and institutional aid.
• Meet the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) requirement for the specific award or scholarship being requested.

Required Documents

• Completed Hopi Tribe Grants and Scholarship Program (HTGSP) application.
• Hopi Tribe enrollment verification form.
• Official high school transcript or official GED scores sent directly from the issuing school/institution in a sealed envelope (one‑time submission only).
• Official transcripts from any post‑secondary institutions currently or previously attended, sent directly from the institution(s) in sealed envelopes.
• Completed Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) form.
• Endorsed program of study / declared degree.

Application Deadlines (final semester deadlines)

• Summer semester: April 15
• Fall semester: July 15
• Winter semester: October 15
• Spring semester: December 15

Submission instructions All application materials must be complete and received by 5:00 PM (MST) on the final semester deadline listed above for the application to be considered. Faxed submissions are not accepted.
