Alabama PTA Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Alabama PTA
Alabama PTA provides a range of scholarships and grants to advance its work supporting students, families, and educators throughout the state. These awards aim to:
- Promote academic achievement and help students reach postsecondary and career goals.
- Supply teachers and schools with funding for classroom resources, programs, and innovative initiatives.
- Increase access by offering financial assistance so opportunities are available regardless of a family’s financial situation.
- Strengthen family–school–community partnerships that support student success.
Eligibility overview
- Local unit PTAs in good standing may apply where noted.
- Individual applicants must meet the specific award criteria (see each award below).
Available awards
1) Sally Mitchell Reading Grant
- Deadline: March 1, 2026
- Amount: $500
- Who may apply: Local unit PTAs in good standing may request funds for their school library; classroom teachers may apply to purchase reading materials.
- Number awarded: One grant each year
- Application status: Applications are now being accepted
2) Pam Berry Transformative Family Engagement Grant
- Deadline: March 1, 2026
- Amount: $500
- Who may apply: Any Alabama unit PTA in good standing that is working to improve, expand, or transform family engagement programming.
- Number awarded: One grant each year
- Application status: Applications are now being accepted
3) Mary Edith Jones Scholarship
- Deadline: March 1, 2026
- Who may apply: Graduating high school seniors planning to continue their education at accredited institutions, including vocational or trade schools, and two- or four-year colleges.
- Number awarded: One scholarship each year
- Application status: Applications are now being accepted
4) Yvonne Ballentine Memorial (Reflections) Scholarship
- Deadline: March 1, 2026
- Who may apply: A high school senior who has participated in the Reflections program.
- Number awarded: One scholarship each year
- Application status: Applications will open by January 31, 2026
