Continuing Christian Education Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Episcopal Church In Mississippi
Overview
Several annual scholarships are available through diocesan funds and private endowments. All applications must be submitted by May 1.
Misticos Scholarships
- Four scholarships are awarded each year, designated for one female and three male students who belong to either the Greek Orthodox or Episcopal faiths.
- These awards, created by the late Alexander Misticos, serve as memorials to members of his family and are intended to help cover college expenses.
Warren Scholarships
- Established by the late Robert Warren of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral, the Warren Trust Scholarships follow criteria comparable to the Misticos awards but give preference to young women.
- Recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and distinction in academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular activities, and leadership within their church.
Capers Scholarship
- The Charlotte Capers Scholarship is available to Mississippi students of the Episcopal Church who are pursuing a college education with a liberal arts emphasis.
- Awards are made annually, with priority given to applicants demonstrating financial need.
Okolona Scholarships
- The Okolona College Endowment Trustees fund yearly scholarships for Black college students (male or female) who are residents of Mississippi.
- Selection is based on financial need, academic record, and leadership potential; preference is given to Episcopalians, although applicants from all churches may apply.
Adams Episcopal Scholarship Endowment
- This annual scholarship supports an undergraduate who is an active member of an Episcopal congregation in the Diocese of Mississippi and who will attend either the College of Engineering or the College of Business at Mississippi State University.
- Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a high school college-preparatory program (or its equivalent). While in attendance at that high school, the student must have participated in an organized, school-sponsored sports program and/or an organized, school-sponsored music program.
- Eligible high schools may be public institutions in Mississippi or private college-preparatory schools inside or outside the state.
Selection Committee
- Recipients for all of the above scholarships are chosen each year by the Scholarship Committee, which consists of the Bishop of the Diocese of Mississippi, the Dean and Wardens of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, and members of the Diocese’s Executive Committee and Trustees.
Deadline
- The application deadline for all scholarships listed is May 1.
