Introduction
Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD offers an annual $1,500 scholarship intended for the child of a veteran who served in the U.S. armed forces.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be the legal child (either biological or adopted) of a veteran who served in any branch of the U.S. military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard).
- Be one of the following:
- A high school senior with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, or
- A student currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited community college or undergraduate program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
How to Apply
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply for the Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD Child of an American Veteran Scholarship. To complete your submission, fill out the application form and include the items listed below:
Required documents
1. Completed scholarship application form (use the form provided on this page).
2. Proof of parent’s veteran status. Acceptable documents include, for example:
- VA disability benefits summary letter
- DD214
- Military discharge certificate
If a submitted document contains sensitive information (such as a Social Security number), please provide a redacted copy.
3. Current academic transcript:
- If you are enrolled in college, submit a transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- If you are not yet enrolled in college, submit a current high school transcript with a GPA of 3.0 or higher plus an official acceptance letter from the college or university indicating intent to enroll.
4. Essay (maximum 500 words). Choose one of the prompts below and respond within the 500-word limit.

- What guidance would you offer a younger child who is growing up in a military family?
- In your view, what single action could society take to best support veterans and their families?
Additional information
- Applications must follow all instructions and adhere to the Scholarship Terms & Conditions.
- The application deadline is December 31st. Applications received after that date will not be reviewed.
- The scholarship committee reviews complete submissions and will contact the recipient via email or phone.
