Overview
The Press Club of Long Island annually grants several scholarships, which are presented at the PCLI Media Awards dinner.

Available Scholarships

1) College Journalism Scholarship
- Award: $1,000.
- Who is eligible: College students who attend a Long Island college, or Long Island residents who are enrolled in college elsewhere.
- Nomination: Must be submitted by the student’s adviser, editor, station manager or professor and should describe the nominee’s qualifications.
- Materials required: Three examples of the nominee’s work plus a short essay by the student outlining their journalism goals.

2) Learning Disability Journalism Scholarship
- Award: $1,000 (one recipient).
- Who is eligible: College students or high school seniors entering a college journalism program who have a learning disability as defined by the Learning Disabilities Association of America.
- Application requirements: An essay explaining how the applicant’s learning disability did not deter them from pursuing journalism.
- Nomination: A letter from the student’s adviser, editor, station manager or professor must accompany the submission.

3) Hank Logeman / News 12 Long Island High School Journalism Award
- Award: $2,000.
- Purpose: Created in memory of UPI reporter and Mineola pressroom veteran Hank Logeman to encourage and support high school journalism across Long Island.
- Who is eligible: An outstanding high school journalist or broadcaster, or a high school newspaper or radio station that has done the most to promote high school journalism on Long Island.
- Nomination: Entries must include a nomination letter.
- Judging: Selections are made by representatives from News 12 Long Island in cooperation with the Press Club of Long Island.

General Rules for Special Awards and Scholarships
- Unless a different judging process is specified above, the Press Club of Long Island Board of Directors will evaluate entries.
- Every entry must include a nomination letter.
- There is no fee to submit nominations.
- Deadline for special media awards and scholarship nominations: March 15.
