Whether leadership comes naturally or has been developed through experience, serving as a leader shapes both your path and the people around you. Leadership readies you for future challenges and builds many of the skills necessary for success after college.
About the Scholarship
Attorney Philip Moore founded the Moore Family Law, P.C. Leadership Excellence Scholarship to support students who embody the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity that guide his legal practice. Each semester the Frisco, Texas law firm awards one student $1,000 to help with college expenses. Through this program, applicants are encouraged to reflect on the foundations of genuine leadership.
Who Is Eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:
- Be a current member of, or planning to join, their university’s Greek life organization.
- Have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA in the most recently completed semester.
- Be an undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States for the upcoming semester. High school and graduate students are not eligible.
- Be at least 18 years old at the time the scholarship funds are disbursed.
Required Documents
Each applicant must submit:
- Proof of current or upcoming college enrollment.
- Official or unofficial documentation verifying the most recent semester GPA.
- Consent allowing Moore Family Law, P.C. to publish the submitted essay or video.
Essay / Video Prompt and Format
Please respond to the following prompt:
"Many leaders share common traits such as the ability to inspire others, effective delegation, confidence, and commitment. In your view, what are the most important qualities of a leader? Which personal traits have helped you grow into a more effective leader?"
Response options:
- Written essay: 500–1,000 words, or
- Video: 4 minutes or less
How Applications Are Reviewed
Submissions are assessed after the application deadline by the scholarship committee using these standards:
- Applicant fulfills all eligibility conditions and has provided the requested documentation.
- The essay or video fully addresses the prompt in a clear, organized, and professional manner.
- The submission demonstrates high quality and creativity.
