Introduction
The Florida Nurses Foundation (FNF) advances nursing and healthcare by supporting research, education, and clinical practice. Each year the Foundation grants scholarships and awards to eligible nurses and nursing students. Thanks to the dedication and donations of FNA members and supporters, FNF has assisted hundreds of nurses over the years. More than 30 scholarship and grant funds have been endowed by FNA members. Important dates and award overview
- Annual application period: January 1 – June 1. Applications submitted outside this window will not be considered.
- Notification of awards: between July and August.
- Funds distributed: September. Scholarship recipients are typically recognized at the Annual Foundation Luncheon each September.
- Typical award amount: $1,000.
- Current application deadline: June 1.

Who is eligible
To be considered for an FNF scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a nursing program accredited by ACEN, CNEA, or CCNE.
- Be enrolled in one of the following programs: LPN, or—for RNs—associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral programs (doctoral degrees need not be limited to nursing specialties, e.g., PhD, EdD).
- Have completed at least one semester in the current nursing program by the June 1 application deadline.
- Have lived in Florida for a minimum of one year.

How to apply
- Complete the online application on the scholarships and grants page (https://www.floridanurse.org/page/ScholarshipsGrants).
- Submit one letter of reference.
- Provide a current official or unofficial transcript (it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the transcript is received by June 1).
Note: Applicants do not apply to a specific endowed fund; the Foundation matches applicants to the scholarship(s) that best fit their qualifications.

Application review and required documents
- Only complete application packets will be evaluated. Incomplete applications will trigger an email notification; missing materials must be uploaded and received before the June 1 deadline for the application to remain eligible.
- After you upload your packet, you will receive a confirmation email from the Florida Nurses Foundation—please retain this for your records.
- Original application materials and supporting documents become the property of the Florida Nurses Foundation and will not be returned. Applicants are advised to keep their own copies.

Selection criteria
The FNF Board of Trustees considers the following when selecting recipients:
- GPA minimums unless an individual fund specifies otherwise: Undergraduate—minimum 2.5 GPA; Graduate—minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrated potential to contribute to the nursing profession and to society.
- Any additional criteria specified by the individual scholarship fund (see the Scholarships & Grants page for fund-specific requirements).

Award announcements and participation
- Award recipients are notified between July and August; funds are usually distributed in September. On years when the FNA Membership Assembly is held, recipients may be asked to accept awards at the ceremony. Please do not call the Foundation before August to inquire about award decisions.
- Recipients are typically invited to the Annual Foundation Luncheon each September for recognition.

Recipient responsibilities and permissions
- If a recipient withdraws from their nursing program before completing the semester or year for which the scholarship was granted, they agree to reimburse the Florida Nurses Foundation the amount awarded.
- Recipients agree to participate in follow-up surveys related to the Scholarship Program.
- Recipients consent to public announcements and distribution of award information (including photographs) via news media, websites, and other promotional or educational channels.

Application content and formatting specifications
Complete all requested fields. The application asks for:
- School and program information (dates enrolled, area of study, etc.)
- Education, professional experience, and activities
- Financial information (applicant income, spouse’s income, and number of dependents)
- Written statements: Statement of Need and Statement of Goals/Potential for Contribution
Space limits are provided on the online form—do not exceed the allotted space. You may prepare your responses in a separate document and paste them into the online form.

Final reminder
