Florida State Golf Association Scholarships

Introduction
The FSGA Scholars award is funded by the FSGA Foundation. Each spring the Foundation selects golfers from the graduating class of the FJT to receive a renewable scholarship that may be renewed for up to four years.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen for at least one year.
- Be a high school senior in good standing, enrolled in a Florida public or private high school or an approved home education program.
- Demonstrate financial need (evaluated by total assets, household income, number of dependents, etc.).
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Provide evidence of acceptance to an accredited college or university.
- Enroll in, and complete, at least nine credit hours each fall semester and each spring semester.
Selection Criteria
Award decisions are based on a combination of factors, including:
- Academic record
- Character and sportsmanship
- SAT or ACT scores
- Participation in golf (including high school and junior golf tours and programs)
- Financial need
- Essay
- Letters of recommendation
- Community service and volunteer activities
Award Payment & Recipient Responsibilities
- Scholarships are issued on an academic-year basis (two semesters: fall and spring).
- Funds are disbursed to the recipient’s college or university in two installments: one payment for the fall term and one payment for the spring term.
- It is the student’s responsibility to provide the FSGA with the correct mailing or remittance address for the college’s financial aid office (or other designated office) to ensure timely payment.

Renewal Procedures and Requirements
To continue receiving the scholarship each year, scholars must:
- Submit a formal renewal request annually.
- Include current official transcripts with the renewal request.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; failure to meet this standard will result in suspension of scholarship disbursements.
- Send a short letter or email addressing the following prompts:
- How were your grades and overall GPA for the year and cumulatively?
- What was the highlight of the past academic year?
- What was the most difficult aspect of attending college this year?
- What is your intended career after graduation?
- Do you have a memorable experience to share? (Feel free to inspire or amuse us.)
Renewal Deadline and Submission
- Renewal requests, including transcripts and the written summary, must be submitted by July 1 prior to the fall semester.
