Arizona's resilient athletes spark scholarship inspiration
The Arizona Breaking Barriers Scholarships draw inspiration from the stories of Krysten Muir and Anthony Robles.
Krysten Muir shattered expectations in 2015-2016 as a kicker for the Marcos de Niza High School football team in Tempe. She made history as the first female to score a point in an AIA state championship game and set a state record for the most points scored by a female in a season. In January 2021, Krysten suffered a car accident that resulted in partial paralysis. Despite this setback, her unwavering determination and commitment have allowed her to continue achieving her goals and serve as a beacon of resilience.
Anthony Robles, a distinguished wrestler from Arizona State University®, defied odds when he clinched the NCAA individual championship in 2011, despite being born with a single leg. He concluded his college career with an unbeaten 36-0 record. Anthony has since become a motivational speaker and commentator, inspiring athletes around the world to be unstoppable.
